Goodness Gracious!

I do believe I've done it!

As part of the Ravelympics, I competed with Team Canada in the Sweaterboard Cross event.  The mission was clear: Complete an entire sweater in just over two weeks (two weeks!).

The concept is this:  Several knitters around the world gathered on Ravelry in what seems like close to one million teams to knit like mad during the Olympics.  Before the games, everyone declared the projects they were aiming to finish within the two-and-a-bit week period.  Once finished, the Ravletes (ravelry athletes) posted victorious pictures and there were celebrations a plenty.

I committed myself to the following:

Pattern: Francis Revisited
Yarn: 6 skeins of Cascade Pastaza in brown
Needles: Size 5.5 mm for the body, 5mm for the sleeves
Size: 37"

Not only did I manage to complete it during the Olympics, I did it in only 11 days!  So very excited and quite proud.

Modifications:
  • Lengthened the sleeves by about 3" or 4" with no increases;
  • 2 x 2 ribbing around the collar, sleeves and bottom of the torso rather than seed stitch;
  • Lengthened the bottom of the sweater by a couple of inches;
  • Picked up stitches around the neck and did straight ribbing with only a few increases at either side of the neck.
Go Canada Go!
