Steady as she goes

Yesterday, April 17th, it snowed here.  The temperature didn't drop below zero (and thank goodness for that), but there was a period of time -5-10 minutes or so- where Nature gave us the old one fingered salute and let us have it.  The upside?  Cold weekends mean indoor activities - knitting!

I've been working on my Girl Friday sweater and am making some steady progress.  I finished the back panel Saturday afternoon (sometime after the blizzard) and have begun the two front panels.

Modifications thus far include putting the stitches at the top of the back piece on waste yarn in preparation for a three needle bind off at the shoulders when the front panels are complete.  I'm also going to leave the leftover stitches in the centre live for when I pick up stitches for the button band.

I'm working on both the right and left front panels at the same time for two reasons: 1. I'm hoping this will make it go by faster (or at least seem that way, anyhow), and 2. to be absolutely certain they're the same length when I start the arm holes, bind off... etc.

I'm really pleased with this pattern and find it very well written. The chart for the lacework is incredibly easy to navigate and it looks much more complicated than it is (perhaps, my own personal magician's secret?).  To top it off, this baby is free for the taking.  All in all, I'm thoroughly impressed.

Annie enjoys cold weekends as well.

  Bye for now!

Thursday I don't care about you

It's (girl) Friday I'm in love

or at least it will be soon.  I cast on last night for Girl Friday by Mercedes Tarasovich-Clark and I'm really excited about my progress so far.  The colour of the yarn is stunning and I think it will compliment the lace nicely.

That's all for now!  Happy knitting
